CDSC released our annual report for fiscal year 2023. Court-referred mediations continued to be a strong part of CDSC’s work during the past year, with over 275 small claims and housing cases managed. More than 50% of these cases reached settlement. Additional cases were managed through our community program (including divorce, parent mediation program, and re-entry cases), and another 202 cases were provided with brief service. We also continued to offer our Interpreter program if anyone needed access to an interpreter.
Mediation services were provided thanks to a robust roster of more than sixty volunteers, and services were available both in person and virtually. We thanked our volunteers through our annual volunteer event, and recognized Matt Thompson and Elena Sokolow-Kaufman as Peacemakers at our annual CDSC Bash. CDSC continued to lead in training work—providing basic mediation training to 38 individuals, apprenticeships in mediation to more than a dozen, and providing 292 individuals with conflict skills training. Notably, we added a DEI module to our Basic Mediation Training, and our Board adopted an ambitious DEI plan to ensure our inclusivity and diversity—both for those who need our services, and those who provide them.
Overall, between training and conflict resolution services, CDSC served at least 900 people in total. Read more in our report:
